Community Forums in September: Future Options for Cabot High School
The Cabot School Board and the Cabot School Sustainability Committee will be hosting two forums in September to get feedback and answer questions about two potential future options for Cabot’s high school students. These options are:
- Merge our Cabot School District with a neighboring preK-12 school district (or districts) to create a larger high school with more students and staff as well as more academic and extracurricular opportunities.
- Close Cabot High School and become a preK-8 school district. In that case we would continue to operate grades preschool through 8th grade, but would pay tuition for our high school-aged students to attend any public high school or accredited independent school of their choice in Vermont.
We strongly encourage all members of our community (including students, teachers, and families) to attend one or both of these forums to find out more about these options, to get questions you have answered, and to share your perspectives. The School Board will use the feedback from these forums and from a community survey to determine which option to pursue later this fall. The forums will take place at the Cabot School Performing Arts Center (CSPAC) on campus and will run from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The forum dates are Thursday September 10 and Tuesday Sept 15. Refreshments will be served, and we hope to see you there!
